A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss
April 8th, 2008 . by Liz Gaige- Another post by Liz Gaige of Market Navigators.
My philosophy in marketing is also a rule of physics: a massive rolling boulder is easier to redirect than it is to get started rolling in the first place. Once you’re moving, you can make adjustments. But if you try to think through all the possible computations before you start, you’ll have gotten nowhere while you navel-gazed.
I say, think and move at the same time!
Theory is great, but it’s not enough. Theory doesn’t always pan out in practice. So, I don’t want to know just the theory, I want action. I’m a hit-the-ground-running type, the person who wants to gather information and then do something about it, not simply ponder, analyze and dither.
Frankly, if we waited till we had the perfect information, the perfect timing and the perfect circumstances, a while lot of life simply wouldn’t happen!
So get off that couch and start writing! You know you want to. Don’t let details and unknowns stop you-you can figure them out as you go. Better yet, get an experienced guide to show you the shortcuts from the start.

Well said, Liz. I tend to over-plan projects, and am constantly fighting that. This reminder is helpful. Perhaps your next post could be about how to realize you’re doing that, and what to do about it.
